A Ride-or-Die Crew is Good Self-Care!

16Hey Feminista Family! I want to introduce you to our newest contributing writer, Tonya Ladipo! She is the owner and director of The Ladipo Group, an organization that provides high-quality, professional counseling services. Give her a warm Feminista welcome in the comments below. – K

Nothing says self-care like surrounding yourself with people who want the best for you! These are the friends, co-workers, family members, and partners who truly want you to succeed in life.

There are plenty of naysayers around which is why having someone in your corner is essential to a good life. These people, your ride or die crew, have three important qualities:

  1. They’re supportive and encouraging of things and people that are good for you. They don’t tell you to do things that will hurt you or spend time with people who don’t care for you. People in your corner support and encourage good things for you.
  2. They tell you the truth, even when you don’t want to hear it. A true supporter is honest, not brutally honest but honest. They can be kind with their words while still calling you on your stuff and telling you when you’re wrong.
  3. A true supporter makes time for you when you need them. They may have busy lives but because you are a priority in their life they make time for you.

Share this with those in your corner and thank them for being there for you! Tell us, how do you know when someone is in your corner and supportive of you?
