Four Things To Give Instead of Gifts For Christmas

Are you still racking your brains for last-minute gift ideas?  With only a few days before Christmas, finding and buying the perfect gift can be stressful.  Not only that, but you run the risk of buying something that your loved ones might not use or like.

So why stress yourself out?

Opt for giving any of the following. These “gifts” are custom-made, thoughtful, and are sure to bring happiness to the people in your life.

Give Time: If you have a girlfriend that is a single mom, a caretaker of an aging or sick parent, or both, consider taking their “shift” so they can “take the day off” to attend to some serious self-care.

Give Shout-Outs: If any of your loved ones is new to entrepreneurship and social media, help them out. “Retweet” their tweets, “Like” them on Facebook and encourage your social networks to do the same. Not only are you showing support, you’re providing them with free publicity, and possibly putting money into their pockets.

Give Service:   Each and every one of us has a talent. What gets you the most unsolicited compliments from friend, families, and strangers?  Are you a task-master, an attentive listener, Ms. Fix-it, the best sweet-potato-pie-maker, a budget-diva, or Madame Style?

Once you know what you are good at, hook your friends up. Not only will they appreciate what you are doing for them, you’ll get that sense of satisfaction that comes from doing something you love for someone you love.

Give New Memories By Refreshing Old Ones: Go back into the archives for the pictures that express more than a thousand words. Arrange them in frames or scrapbooks. Be prepared for some deep belly laughing and an impromptu song and/or dance or two as you stroll down memory lane. Believe me, refreshing old memories is the best way to remind you to make new ones.

Saving your money and budgeting correctly are two of the foundational tasks needed to take control of your finances.  If you need additional support, I invite you to check out my budgeting course and my savings course.
