How to Make the Most of What You Have

Making the most of what you have comes in many forms. Clearly, the most obvious is financial. Being able to make the most of your finances without feeling like you are missing out is great. Sometimes, though being able to make do with what you have is better when you think about things such as stress. Is it better to have that new handbag, or is it better you have positive mental health. Life is about perspective, and the only person who can control how you think and feel is you. You do not have to have the best of everything to be perfectly content. In this world, it is probably far better to live within your means and live a simple life if you do not have it in you to constantly compete, and strive. The truth is, the carrot on the stick is never going away, and sometimes you have to step back and wonder who you are constantly striving for. As long as you live an honest life and hurt no one, you can live with a guilt-free conscience, and sometimes that peace of mind is worth its weight in gold. Here are a few ways to make the most of what you have:

Set a budget and live within your means

You must live within your means. So, you need to live somewhere you can afford, and buy the things you can afford, things that will leave you with a surplus. To do this, one of the best things you can do is set a budget. Once all the essentials are taken care of, you can put a little aside for a rainy day and use the rest for leisure. If you pay too much for the essentials, you will have nothing to play with. Be realistic about what you have. If you are not particularly good with money, then sit there are work out exactly how much the essentials set you back. Then go through bank statements to figure out why you are going over your limit. If you can become more aware of your spending, you will find that you are wealthier, can go out more often and enjoy life a little more, and have less stress.

Take control of your life

Another way to make the most of what you have is to take back control. Don’t do things you don’t want to do. Don’t be a people pleaser. People pleasers are not happy. They are constantly looking for validation and finding none. The worst thing about this mentality is that you end up not respecting yourself, having no time, and running yourself ragged, and getting stressed. One of the best ways to start taking control is to start saying ‘no’ to things people ask you to do. This may be difficult at first, but once you start, you will feel more powerful and more in control of your life. When you have more time, you can spend it with the people that matter and do the things that you want to do. So you will be making better use of the time that you have.

Start a hobby

We only have one life as far as we know, and if there is anything out there that you feel you want to learn and do, why not start now. With more free money and time, you will have the facility to do the things you enjoy. So, think about it. What are you interested in? Learning the guitar, learning how to paint, or maybe you just want to read up on Ancient Greece. Everyone is interested in something. Also, a hobby has the power to change your life in other ways. It can develop your concentration and enter you into a community of like-minded people. It can give you a conversation starter, and whatever you are interested in, you can be sure that at least one other person in a group of people will find it interesting too. Maybe you are more interested in the occult and want to discover some esoteric knowledge or some major arcana meaning. There is so much more than work, eat, sleep in life, and it is up to you to find something that you enjoy and that you find worthwhile. If you start a creative pursuit, it is possible that this could end in a side hustle as you may be able to sell your artwork or crafts.

Starting a hobby can open up many doors. If you find you need more money, you can either cut back on your spending or find ways to make that extra money, which might mean getting a new job or starting a side hustle where you sell feet pics, (no judgment because it’s actually a legit thing) for example. Decide which direction makes most sense for you.
